Minutes of a Special Meeting of the

Town Council of the Town of Ellicott

held at the Administration Building,

215 S. Work Street, Falconer, N.Y. on

January 23, 2003 at 12:00 P.M.

 

Present: Supervisor Tyler, Councilman Geisler, Councilman Lodestro, Councilman Miller, Councilman Taylor, Town Clerk Erlandson, Attorney Lasker.

 

Supervisor Tyler opened the meeting at 12:10 PM and led the Town Council in the Pledge of Allegiance.    Town Clerk Erlandson called the roll. 

 

The Town Council discussed the recent retirement of the Town of Ellicott Assessor.  Supervisor Tyler outlined several options re how to fill the vacancy.  He noted that the 2003 Assessment Roll must be completed no later than May 1, 2003 to be eligible for New York State maintenance aid.  The Council discussed the possibility of negotiating with the Town of Busti to utilize the services of their assessor.  The Council reviewed a proposed agreement to retain the Town of Busti Assessor as well as an appraiser.  Councilman Lodestro reported that he met with former Town of Ellicott Assessor Patricia Eimers who recently retired.  Mr. Lodestro stated that Mrs. Eimers would consider returning as Town of Ellicott Assessor under certain conditions.

 

RESOLUTION #37-03
Negotiations w/ Town of Busti (Assessor Position)

 

Motion by Councilman Geisler, seconded by Supervisor Tyler directing Supervisor Tyler and Councilman Lodestro to negotiate with Town of Busti officials involving the possibility of appointing the Town of Busti Assessor as temporary Town of Ellicott Assessor; and further, authorizing Supervisor Tyler and Councilman Lodestro to enter into negotiations regarding the hiring of an appraiser.

RESOLUTION #38-03

Committee to Fill Vacancy (Town Assessor)

 

Motion by Supervisor Tyler, seconded by Councilman Miller appointing Councilman Lodestro and Councilman Taylor to review alternatives regarding the vacant Town of Ellicott Assessor position.

RESOLUTION #39-03

Accept Bids (Sale of Used Town of Ellicott Vehicle)

 

Motion by Councilman Lodestro, seconded by Councilman Taylor to accept the high bid of $1,615.00 submitted by Allan Hendrickson, 21 Winsor Pl. WE, for the sale of a used 1992 Ford XL ½ Ton, 4-Wheel Drive Pickup Truck owned by the Town of Ellicott.

 

Adopted.                                 Ayes - 4                               Noes - 0                         Abstain – 1

(Supervisor Tyler Abstained.)

 

Motion by Supervisor Tyler, seconded by Councilman Miller to adjourn at 12:37 PM.
