PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR

Patricia Lefford, 2717 Palm Rd. read a statement regarding a request to rezone 55 acres of property east of N. Main St. Ext. (Rte. 60).  If the request is granted, the property would be rezoned from ‘residential’ to ‘mercantile’.  Ms. Lefford is opposed to rezoning the property.  In her opinion, ‘mercantile’ does not fit the character of the present neighborhood.  She expressed a number of concerns re the proposed rezoning request.

Susan Carlson, 2709 Horton Rd., also stated that she is opposed to the rezoning request.  She is concerned that a commercial development in the area would increase truck traffic on Horton Rd.  She also pointed out that much of the area within the rezoning area is wetland.  She feels that the wetland should be preserved.
