How do I get a copy of a police report?
The reception desk is opened from 8:00 am till 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday and is located at Town of Ellicott Administration Building, 215 South Work Street, Falconer, NY.

Where do I go to pay my parking ticket or traffic citation?
Parking tickets can be paid by mail or in person at the Town of Ellicott Court, located at 215 South Work Street, Falconer NY 14733. Citations for moving violations are handled by the Traffic Court, located at the Ellicott Court.

Why did it take so long for the police to come when I called them?
All requests for police services are assigned to priority based on the seriousness of the incident and the potential for injury or damage to property. At times, calls of less urgent nature must be delayed so that we can respond immediately to emergencies.

Can the police open my car if I have locked my keys inside?
Because of the potential for damage to vehicles the police department does not open locked vehicles. A locksmith or tow company is your best alternative. If a child is locked inside the vehicle, a police car will respond to remove the child from the vehicle, possibly by breaking a window.

Why do they ask so many questions when I call the police?
Receiving dispatchers are trained to try to get as much information as possible to best determine the nature of the problem and its seriousness. On emergency calls, the dispatcher has already sent the information to the officer while asking additional questions.

How can I find out if someone has been arrested?
The Town of Ellicott Police Department permits the arrested person a phone call to notify a friend or family of his/her arrest.

Can I make a police report over the telephone or does a police officer have to come to my house?
Some reports can be taken over the telephone. The receiving dispatcher can determine if your report can be handled over the telephone over your call may be transferred over to the officer working your zone.

Should I report suspicious activity in my neighborhood?
The Police Department depends on citizens calling to report crimes or suspicious activity. The dispatcher who takes your call will ask questions about the activity to determine its nature and ask for descriptions of the people involved. You may be asked if an officer may contact you but you may refuse.

We have a problem with speeders in our neighborhood. What can we do about it?
Call the Police Department and request that this area be placed on selective enforcement.

I dialed 911 to get some information and the receiving dispatcher told me to call another number, why?
The 911 number is only to be used for incidents in which someone's life is in jeopardy or the potential of serious physical injury to a person if possible. (Example: car accidents, street fights, robberies, burglaries in progress). All other calls can be made to
664-3100. People with alarm systems that auto dial please set them to dial the 664-3100.
